Since 1945, volunteers have been an essential part of River Garden. They bring support, warmth and tradition to residents and families.
Adult Volunteers
We match each volunteer with opportunities that fit their skills, interests and availability. Examples include:
Assisting with resident activities through the Life Enrichment team
Supporting spiritual life with the Jewish Life department
Providing companionship and wheelchair assistance
Helping with office and administrative projects
Contributing through therapy pet visits, library support or clothing repairs
Volunteers may also pursue ‘certified’ status, where additional training in specialized tasks makes the volunteers’ time especially valuable to River Garden staff.
Teen Volunteers (Ages 13-17)
The River Garden Teens (RGT) program provides meaningful service and leadership experience in a healthcare setting. Students learn communication, responsibility and empathy while volunteering.
Summer Program: Full-day projects, department rotations, and resident activities
School-Year Program: Sunday and school-break opportunities
Volunteer hours documented for school requirements
All volunteers complete an application, interview, tour and orientation. Please email Esther Yegelwel, Volunteer Coordinator, or complete the contact form here to learn more.
